This wasn't my first RAM mount for a GPS. I'd previously used a RAM on a dual-sport motorcycle and never once, no matter how rough the trail got, had to even readjust, much less retrieve my GPS. So, when I needed a car mount for my new GPS, I really only asked if RAM made one before my mind was made up to purchase it. This mount is just what I expected from my previous experience. One of the things I like most about their mount is the flexibility it has in mounting options. This mount gives flexibility to rotate in all three planes of rotation, which allows for me to reduce glare and increase contrast for any light condition. (This is in contrast to a competitor's product, which only allows one plane of rotation.) Because of the rubberized balls, once the unit is placed in the desired position and the mount is tightened, it doesn't move at all. I was leery of the suction cup mount, but have found it to be more than suitable for use. It has released a few times, but never when I'm operating the GPS (including pushing face-plate buttons), only when I'm man-handling it, usually putting it into or removing it from the mount. One previous reviewer bemoaned the fact that the unit doesn't come with instructions. I have to ask "Are you serious?" This unit doesn't need any instructions. I have no problem giving this mount my fullest recommendation.

I had previously owned another mounting system. It wasn't as sturdy or as flexible to use. I wish I had originally purchased this one.

Upon receipt of the unit, the quality of the tooling was poor. The holes were not drilled through completely. The suction cup mount works poorly as well and does not stay attached to the mounting surface.
