Stay connected with your buddies while on the trail, at the river, or anywhere else within a 10-mile range with this pair of GMR1088-2CK two-way radios. Also ideal as neighborhood watch tools and kid-sitting aids, each water-resistant radio features 22 channels (15 GMRS, 7 FRS) and 99 CTCSS/DSC privacy codes, along with a voice-operated transmitter that enables hands-free communication when used with an optional HS 2467 headset and microphone. The large number of channels and privacy codes give users several communication options, ensuring that they can almost always talk with friends or family via an exclusive, uninterrupted signal. The channels are easy to find thanks to the channel scan feature, which browses for active channels while you watch, and the channel monitor function, which listens for weak signals on a given channel. To transmit on a GMRS or FRS channel, a user merely presses the PTT or power-boost button while the scan is paused. The power-boost button expands the radio's range by emitting maximum power when a GMRS channel is detected. The radios are also equipped with a NOAA National Weather Service receiver. In weather-alert mode, the system functions as it does in GRMS mode, but also monitors the selected weather channel for storm updates and other information. When using the weather function, users can't receive GMRS communications, however. Additional features include a backlit LCD display, keypad lock, and a choice of five different call tones. The selectable tones are ideal for groups with several radios, as it lets users differentiate between calls. The radios also include a pair of belt clips for efficient transport, along with two charging cradles and accompanying NiMH battery packs. Each radio also comes with a battery-level meter on its display to indicate the power level. What's in the Box
