Product Description
Garmin Fishfinder 140 - FISHFINDER 140 W/DUAL BEAM 4.7"

Amazon.com Product Description
When seeing your targets clearly is the goal, the Garmin Fishfinder 140 marine GPS is the one tool you need on your next fishing expedition. With 240 vertical pixels on a four level grayscale display, you get better separation and contrast so you'll know exactly where you're most likely to make the perfect catch. Like all of the new Garmin fishfinders, the 140 features Ultrascroll for fast screen updates, which is ideal for speed-based applications. This system also has a minimal amount of buttons and offers intuitive operation, so you'll spend less time learning how to use the Fishfinder 140, and more time reaping the fishing rewards. You won't even have to leave the sonar screen to change settings, thanks to a convenient adjustment bar.

Designed to give you fast and clear information when you need it, the Fishfinder 140's new sounder design features excellent shallow water performance, including a patented transom/trolling mount, dual-beam transducer with user-selectable narrow (14 degrees) or wide (45 degrees) views to help you see more fish in shallow water, while the automatic display re-scaling on range change means no more vertical lines obscuring your readings. For added convenience, the power down backup feature ensures that your settings will not be lost when the unit is turned off.

The Fishfinder 140 offers additional features, including a 2X and 4X automatic and manual zoom, 600 foot depth, and technology that shows weak and strong returns simultaneously, that make it easy and fun to find the perfect catch. And thanks to alarms for fish size, shallow water, deep water, and low battery (so your Fishfinder will never suddenly run out of power without warning), you'll have an informed advantage that will pay off in better fish stories than ever before.

What's in the Box
Fishfinder 140, transom mount transducer with integrated power cable, mounting bracket with tilt/swivel, and owner's manual.

1 out of 5 stars Amazon holding back shipping   July 22, 2010

I usually buy from Amazon and take supersaver shipping.

I see that I can get this the next day and thats nice for those who want to pay the extra shipping.

what P!$$es me off is I ordered this on a Monday and here it is Friday and it has not been put in the mail to me yet.

Amazon has the item for shipping but is withholding it from shipping to get people to pay for 2nd day or overnight shipping.

This is my LAST purchase from Amazon....

5 out of 5 stars Fish tonight   July 5, 2010

I think this is a nice value as fishfinders go. I would buy this again. Good general purpose depth finder, we don't fish much but we do travel narrow back water channels as well as uncharted water, its easy to read even in the bright Florida sun. easy install but it does require a bigger hole through transom than other brands, its very accurate in shallows and when cruising on plane.

5 out of 5 stars Great product for the price.   June 24, 2010

I was looking for a inexpensive depth finder that would also give the water temperature. After researching, this item seemed to be the best bang for the buck. This depthfinder has been working great. The screen is large, numbers are easily visible. This product does everything I want it to.
I use this item on a 14 foot fishing boat.

5 out of 5 stars fishfinder garmin works pretty well   June 23, 2010

I realy like this device. Auto settings work well so you can quickly use it right out of the box. I've played with the gain, sensitivity, etc. and found that the auto settings usually work the best. The only issue that I'm trying to figure out is that sometimes I get different bottom depth readings using the different frequencies (long width and skinny width). TYhis Garmen is well made; solid case and transducer/battery connector, the membrane buttons have a nice feel to them and the mounts for transducer and screen are good. You can read the screen easily in full sumlight. I've had it on the water about 5 times already and had good luck with it.

4 out of 5 stars So Far, So Good   June 17, 2010

I bought the fishfinder mainly for the depth finder feature while fishing/crabbing in the rivers of the Chesapeake Bay region. It was very easy to install on my jon boat and to hook up to a small 12v battery I purchased from Cabela's. So far, it has worked as expected. I have been adjusting the settings for my own purposes and I like the alarm when I get into too shallow of water. Have not had too many chances to see how accurate the fish finder is under various fishing conditions, but it picks up fish and displays both big and little fish icons on the screen. If you are looking for a quality fish finder at a low price, this unit is a good buy.
